Build better cooking experiences with Combustion devices and our open source frameworks ✨
Overview
The Combustion Predictive Thermometer and Display & Range Extender openly broadcast essential device data using Bluetooth advertising packets. This simplifies the user and developer experience by avoiding a cumbersome Bluetooth pairing process. A secondary benefit is that initial retrieval and display of data is very low latency—typically less than 500ms —and feels nearly instantaneous to a user.
The tradeoff is that any nearby Bluetooth devices can, by design, eavesdrop on the data being broadcast. We believe a simplified, robust, and low-latency user experience outweighs the possibility that an interloper may be able snoop on data from a kitchen thermometer.
